Discipleship

We know the painful isolation that often accompanies unexpected loss. Oftentimes, your community longs to walk with you but doesn’t know how. Safe, familiar places can be triggering and hard after loss.

We also know what it’s like to be shaken to your core– riddled with questions and in so much pain. Our groups are a safe place to genuinely wrestle with big questions in the covering of community because there’s an untapped depth that comes with wrestling.

Our Stories bear witness that, with the support of a faithful community, the depths of grief can propel you into even deeper places with God.

Discipleship Community

Songs in the Night discipleship groups are virtual and meet consistently. We are women committed to cultivating a deeply personal relationship with Jesus through all seasons of widowhood. We follow Pete Scazzero’s model of Emotionally Healthy Discipleship – embracing limits and weaknesses, discovering the treasures buried within grief, and surrendering to the radical call of Jesus. We aim to be a safe place to be known, loved, and vulnerable with both difficult and beautiful moments of our journey.

Hope Groups: a commitment to 10 weeks of virtual meetings with a small group of widows. We walk through the Hope Unshakable Workbook which can be purchased here. Hope Groups are offered four times a year.

Long Term Discipleship Program: a long term commitment to a group of 6-8 widows. It is the patient way through suffering and we believe these groups can lead to deep transformation over time.

Discipleship groups are currently operating throughout the United States, New Zealand, & United Kingdom.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Romans 12:12

Discipleship:

Growing deep roots in safe community

  • PEOPLE WHO GET YOU

A place to be known and loved. There are often beautiful moments that coincide with grief – our community is committed to holding both joy and sorrow. We find ourselves crying and laughing together through this unique journey.

  • VIRTUAL

Our online communities are committed to biweekly virtual meetings. Meeting virtually takes the logistics out of arranging childcare (if necessary) and it allows connection to deep community from the comfort of home.

  • SAFE PLACE

Our goal is to give permission and space to genuinely wrestle with God where leaders are equipped and committed to the gospel.

  • LONGTERM TO LIFELONG

Processing the unexpected loss of a spouse and taking steps forward is a lifelong journey. We are beyond a conference or a retreat. We are committed to your longterm support.
